Over Heating Transformer

Guys, I have an over heating 45KVA transformer. Had it scanned and the guy freaked out. What may be causing this? Could it be a grill?

It revealed overheating so much the guy who scanned it wanted to cook his breakfast sausages and pan cakes on the transformer. Wow, that's crazy.

Will there be a charge for an opinion? We already have a base building electrician.

Sparky, talking about a hot transformer, even the wires running from the transformer (load side) is unusually warm. I am really concerned.

ok. I'll PM you my contact details.

The transformer feeds a computer room a few floors below. Pretty long run. Now that I think about it, the computer room has slowly but surely expanded and added more equipment over the last 10 years but the transformer has remained the same. A major electrical outfit recently added a 5 ton Liebert A/C to the same transformer. Doing a load test would be a good idea, wouldn't you think?

Well they never did in the last 5 years since the transformer is in our mechanical room. They dont have access to it. However, they continued to add 2 large UPS's and 4 main frames and a 5 ton Mr. Slim A/c to it over the years. Now they've added another 5 tons for stand-by cooling.

I've PM'd you my contact details. I start at 7am on Monday. Call when you arrive and I'll meet you at the loading dock. Thanks Sparky.
